I was recently interviewed by my friend Andrea Ferretti on her podcast, Yogaland, talking specifically about how I used meditation and yoga to recover from addiction. It is - in my opinion - one of the best interviews I have ever done.
I knew Andrea back in 2010 when we worked for the same company. She knew me while I was "holding it all together" on the outside, in the one place where I kept it together best: work. We reconnected in 2014 when I took a training from her husband Jason Crandell, a well-known yoga instructor, and put it together that they were married.
There are so many layers in this interview, between talking to someone from my past that witnessed and understands a part of it, to connecting with her and her husband along my recovery journey through yoga, and coming full-circle to the present, as a yoga teacher who not only used yoga to save myself but who now evangelizes about it to the masses.
The influence that yoga and meditation have had on my recovery is beyond measure - I would NOT be where I am without them both. And not just as a tool or a measure or a means to an end. Yoga is home for me now. It's how I find my way home.
I hope you listen to the podcast, and also check out other pods she's done - she's had some amazing guests such as Seane Corn, Kathryn Budig, and my yoga teacher, Stephanie Snyder (who I refer to frequently in my work).
